Project Name: Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
My name is Betty Tonsing and my organization, na participated in Indy Do Day for this project: Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
This is what we accomplished:
The house is identified as a historic landmark and is the Old North neighborhood which is quite diverse. The aim of the site is to become the most interactive and engaging historic site featuring such as figure as President Harrison, making a valuable contribution as both a historic museum and community center. In the back of the house appears to be alley, but is really a street still called Talbot Street with the original bricks. It is very cluttered with dumpsters teaming with trash, and serves also as the main entrance for the many buses of school children who come to the Presidential site. A team came to clean up best as we could (unable to do anything about the dumpsters!) with the area within the immediate broad expanse of site's back entrance and gardens. It was a beautiful fall day and just great to be outdoors.
We worked on: Thursday, October 2. There were 3 volunteers and around 8 total hours worked. We also provided the following skills to help with our project: Remove Debris
