2016 Indy Do Day Accomplishments

Project Name: Vibrant Corridors Murals (Alabama St. Underpass at I-65/12th St. on College Avenue Underpass at I-65)

My name is Danielle Dove and my organization, Arts Council of Indianapolis participated in Indy Do Day for this project: Vibrant Corridors Murals (Alabama St. Underpass at I-65/12th St. on College Avenue Underpass at I-65)

This is what we accomplished:

The Arts Council of Indianapolis, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc., Downtown Indy, and the City of Indianapolis is managing the Vibrant Corridors mural initiative that will beautify many of the city’s key gateways and thoroughfares.

Vibrant Corridors, made possible in part by the Lilly Global Day of Service, and The Glick Fund, a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation, will link artists with mural locations throughout the city—including bridge underpasses and building walls—to create vibrant public works of art that will encompass the spirit of each neighborhood and enhance connectivity between neighborhoods.

The work for this initiative was started by artists in September and on October 2, 2014 employee volunteers from Lilly helped as part of the company’s Global Day of Service. Murals at Alabama and College received additional volunteer support by community volunteers as part of Indy Do Day, on October 3, 2014.
