This is what we hope to accomplish:

On Thursday, September 29th 2016, Eli Lilly and Company and Shortridge High School will collaborate to design and implement four peace parks in high need areas of Indianapolis. The following are the sites we will be serving on Indy Do Day:

Project I. Seven Steeples Farm

The main project that we will complete is an outdoor classroom. There will be five projects on site to engage students and volunteers from Eli Lilly in service. Those projects include:

1. Outdoor Classroom Team – Volunteers will work to complete the outdoor classroom area at the Farm.
2. Seat Log Factory – Volunteers will paint 100 log seats to include in the outdoor classroom and around the farm’s campus.
3. Mulching Team – There will be a team of volunteers dedicated to mulching the outdoor classroom area as well as other sites on the farm including the labyrinth area, produce aisles, walkways, and chicken coop area.
4. Harvesting Team – a team of volunteers will be working to harvest the farm’s produce and prepare the farm’s products for the fall/winter freeze.
5. Picnic Tables Team – Seven Steeples Farm needs picnic tables so different groups can have a place to sit, eat, and gather in community. This team will assemble and stain five (5) picnic tables.

Project V. St. Vincent De Paul Distribution Center

We will engage Shortridge High School’s students with Special Needs in a project that will benefit St. Vincent De Paul’s distribution center which is preparing to open the doors to its thrift store1. By selling new and gently used clothing and household items to the community, the Thrift Store will help fund vital programs and also offer training and work opportunities for members in the community. Volunteers serve alongside SVDP staff and a few guests in their programs to sort, organize and clean donations in the Distribution Center.

We will be working on: Thursday, September 29. There will be 420 volunteers and around 1680 total hours worked. We are also providing the following skills to help with our project: Landscaping, Painting, Artistic Help, Learning/Education
