2017 – What Is Everyone Doing for Indy Do Day?

Project Name: Great 38th Street Cleanup!

Our Accomplishments!

My name is Shari Himes and my organization, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana – Troop 1610 participated in Indy Do Day for this project: Great 38th Street Cleanup!

We worked on:

Removing trash and sidewalk weeds along E. 38th St. between KEYSTONE AVE. and FALLCREEK PARKWAY, and E. 37th St. between CAROLINE AVE. and ORCHARD AVE. Working with businesses to get them to participate. Use DO DAY volunteers to help clean up the sidewalks not attended to by a business along E. 38th St. Will also beautify a INDY GO BUS CORNER at ORCHARD AVE. and E. 38TH ST. Will clear a small side walk section for the SENIOR CITIZENS on 37 and 36th and KINNEAR AVE. Many residents are long time home owners who can no longer clear their sidewalk of weeds. Close to the bike trails and major intersections this is an area that can benefit from a helping hand. This area is central to IPS students who walk and ride the bus. Clearing the sidewalk of weeds in the area listed above will help to make it safer for student travel.

. There were 50 volunteers and around 250 total hours worked. We also provided the following skills to help with our project:
